John Ford, born on this day in 1894, in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

I’m not really sure why Netflix has this in Widescreen.

Perhaps the greatest American director ever grew up near Portland, Maine in Cape Elizabeth, and I grew up in Kittery, 45 minutes south on the Maine/New Hampshire border.  I even lived in Portland for a few years, probably stepped in places he stepped before he became famous.  I guess it kind of makes sense, considering I saw most of the films he’s best known for before the advent of imdb, but still… 

I DVR’d The Searchers when it aired on TCM recently, and unfortunately, the software I use to capture images off of my cable box distorted the colors on some of my screenshots.  I kind of liked how it turned out on this one though.
